Mark Fitzgerald

Mark Fitzgerald,
Manager

Mark Fitzgerald started his career at Boise State in 2006. Previously he managed three other higher education help desks.

Mark is a graduate of Brigham Young University and has a Masters in Business Administration from Boise State. He holds industry certifications from Dell, Novell, HDI and in ITIL.

Mark loves to teach others and participates in many workshops and conferences. He is currently chairing the Help Desk Institute (HDI) Higher Education Forum.

Mark and his wife have three wonderful boys and live in Meridian where they enjoy cooking, photography and music.

 

Shad Jessen

Shad Jessen, Administrative Lead
Technical Support Specialist

Shad Jessen was hired at Boise State University in 2001, previously having worked 11 years at Portland State University.

Shad attended Southern Oregon University and Portland State University. He holds HDI Support Center Team Lead and HDI Support Center Analyst certifications, as well as several software certifications.

Shad is invested in putting a face on information technology, interacting with the campus community to facilitate a mutual understanding of how OIT services are integral to Boise State University. Shad's work earned him the first OIT "Excellence in Service" award in 2006.

At home Shad enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, composing music, and is a student of art history, film, and European and colonial history.

 

Peter Jurhs

Peter Jurhs, Technical Lead
Technical Support Specialist

Peter grew up in McMinnville, Oregon. For a summer job, he worked for his parents logging in the Oregon Coast Range.

Peter attended Northwest Nazarene College (now Northwest Nazarene University) in Nampa, ID and graduated from Northwest Nazarene College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Science in Management Information Systems from Boise State University for which he is researching ITIL Problem Management in Higher Education.

After college, Peter worked for MCI Worldcom in Boise, providing support for HP products. He joined Boise State University as a Technical Support Specialist in 2000, and was promoted to Lead Technical Support Specialist in 2001.

Peter affectionately holds the moniker of "Head Geek."

During his eight years at Boise State, Peter has continued to improve his knowledge and skills. He has earned Microsoft Certified System Administrator 2003 and ITIL version 3 Foundations certifications.

 

Tony Alzola

Tony Alzola,
Technical Support Specialist

Tony hails from Colorado, but spent most of his life traveling to such exotic locations such as Lakenheath, England and Minot, North Dakota courtesy of the United States Air Force.

Tony is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and holds degrees in Biology and Physical Anthropology.

Tony designed HVAC systems using AutoCAD and worked for MCI Worldcom before joining Boise State University as a Technical Support Specialist in 2000.

Tony is certified in CompTIA Network +.

Tonya Buie,
Technical Support Specialist

Tonya has a Masters of Science in Education, Educational Technology, from Boise State University.

She has been a Technical Support Specialist since 1998

Tonya is certified in ITIL v3 Foundations and as an HDI Desktop Support Technician.

 

Jeremy Burkman

Jeremy Burkman,
Technical Support Specialist

Jeremy has worked for the Office of Information Technology for over five years, both as a student employee and in his current role as a Technical Support Specialist.

Jeremy graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems, and is currently pursuing his Masters in Business Administration at the University.

Jeremy is a Dell Certified Systems Expert and a Microsoft Certified Professional.

When not at work, at school, or doing homework, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.

 

Marc Dhoore

Marc Dhoore,
Technical Support Specialist

Marc has lived in 10 different states for at least one year or more, and likes really spicy food (especially that made with fresh chilies).

Marc finds himself to be more of a computer therapist then a technician. His goal is to eliminate technical frustration, fix problems, and provide great customer service by making people happy.

Marc has two fantastic children, two cats, a marine reef aquarium and a lovely wife of 18 years in a little house in N.W. Boise.

 

Connie Griffin

Connie Griffin,
Technical Support Specialist

Connie (CJ) Griffin came to Boise State University in 2005 as a Technical Support Specialist and has over 11 years of computer support experience.

Connie obtained a Bachelor's in Exercise Science with a Business Administration minor from Eastern Washington University.

Connie began her career at the internal Microsoft help desk assisting with network connectivity issues, and earned a Networking Essentials Microsoft Certified Professional certification. She advanced to the Microsoft Exchange support team and provided mailbox and server support.

As a Network Application Specialist at the City of Everett, WA, Connie provided application support, managed software implementations and wrote in-house software applications.

Connie loves living in Boise and has become very active in the Boise Basin Quilters quilt guild, making quilts and building databases for the club. She plans to buy her own long arm sewing machine very soon and can't wait to start teaching quilt classes.

 

Marlene McVeigh

Marlene McVeigh,
Technical Support Specialist

Marlene is originally from Michigan, and spent several years bouncing around the country before landing in Idaho.

Marlene began work for Boise State University in 2005, bringing more than five years of technical experience to her job as a Technical Support Specialist.

Marlene is a graduate of the University of Advancing Technology located in Phoenix, AZ. She is a Certified Apple Support Specialist as well as a CompTIA Network+ Certified Professional.

She enjoys spending time with friends and the great outdoors. Some of her favorite activities include hiking and whitewater rafting.

 

Travis Moore

Travis Moore,
Technical Support Specialist

Travis grew up in Texas and Idaho prior to living in Germany, where he attend DEKRA Akademie and received a certificate in System Integration and End User Support.

Travis later received a Bachelor's degree in German from Boise State University.

Travis began work for the OIT Help Desk as a student employee in 2005, and was hired as a Technical Support Specialist in 2008.

 

Michail Rudyi

Michail Rudyi,
Technical Support Specialist

Mike was born in Ukraine, but has spent the majority of his life in Idaho. 

In 2006 Mike graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelors of Applied Science in Computer Network Technology.

Previously Mike provided computer support for the Idaho Transportation Department and the Nampa School District. 

Mike enjoys working with, and learning about new technology, and reading about Eastern European history.

 

 

Erin Taylor

Erin Taylor,
Technical Support Specialist

Erin is a native Idahoan, born and raised in Boise.  She became a Technical Support Specialist in 2009 and has over 6 years of computer support experience.
 
Erin graduated magna cum laude from Boise State University with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management.  She was named the 2009 Outstanding Graduate in Information Technology by the College of Business and Economics. 
 
Erin enjoys traveling, learning to speak Spanish, playing fantasy football, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Nathan

Nathan Wood,
Technical Support Specialist

Nathan joined the Office of Information Technology as a Technical Support Specialist in 2007. Prior to working for Boise State University, Nathan worked for the Society for Neuroscience in Washington DC.

Nathan graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems. Classes he especially enjoyed involved learning and working on SQL databases.

Nathan is a certified Apple Desktop Technician.

Some of Nathan's interests include following computer hardware trends, building computer systems, PC gaming, casual cycling, and spending time with family and friends.
