How to Use Voicemail Services

Initial Setup
- From your University telephone (your own extension), dial 6-5999 or press the messages button on your phone set. You will be prompted to enter your password.
- The default password is 12345 for new voicemail accounts.
- Follow the voice prompts to set up your voicemail account.
Retrieve Messages
Retrieve Messages From Your Own Phone
- Dial 6-5999 or press the messages button on your phone set.
- You will be prompted for your password.
- Once you've logged in, follow the voice prompts to retrieve your messages.
Retrieve Messages From Another Phone
- On campus, dial 6-5999 or press the messages button on your phone set.
Off campus, dial 426-5999. - Press 1 or * as prompted in the opening greeting.
- You will be prompted for your ID (your 5-digit extension).
- You will be prompted for your password.
- Once you've logged in, follow the voice prompts to retrieve your messages.
If you attempt to access your voicemail using an incorrect password more than three successive times, you will be locked out of your account.
You can wait one hour to have the account automatically unlock, and you can try again, or you can contact the OIT Help Desk to request your password be reset.
Reset Your Voicemail Password
To reset your voicemail password, you can:
- Contact the OIT Help Desk at 426-4357.
- Use Help Desk Self Service to request a voicemail password reset online.
Please note your department will be charged $9.00 for each password reset request.
Configure Your Voicemail Account Online
To use the Voicemail Web Utility you must be on campus or using the VPN client. To configure your voicemail account, you must furnish the following information:
- User Name: your 5-digit phone extension
- Password: First time users should use the default password of 12345
- Domain: avvid
Log in to the Voicemail Web Utility.
Reset Your Voicemail Web Utility Password
You can reset your Voicemail Web Utility Password online from on-campus locations.
If you need assistance resetting you Voicemail Web Utility password, you can:
- Contact the OIT Help Desk at 426-4357.
- Use Help Desk Self Service to request a voicemail password reset online.
Please note this password will not be synchronized with the voicemail password you use to access your messages from your phone. Changing one password will not affect the other.
