Troubleshooting Issues with Authenticated Access
Details
If you don't need access to non-web applications at the University and aren't on the residence hall network, use Guest Access via the GUEST_BSU wireless network access point instead.
Guest Access does not require Clean Access software.
Clean Access
Clean Access helps ensure Boise State University Authenticated Access wireless and residence hall computers make appropriate connections to network resources, and computers connecting to the network have appropriate levels of security enabled and installed, including:
- You must be logged into your Windows computer with administrative rights.
- Reset Your Internet Security Settings: Internet security settings not set to “Default” can cause errors, such as your anti-virus software not updating correctly, or the Clean Access Agent software not connecting to the network.
- Grant Clean Access Permission Through Your Firewall: If you have firewall software installed, make sure to allow access to "CCA Agent."
- Update Your Anti-Virus Software: The Clean Access Agent software may redirect you to a file that updates your anti-virus program. Unfortunately, the file provided may be older than the latest update available. To fix this, update your anti-virus program manually.
- Configure Your Anti-Virus Program to Download and Install Updates Daily: Anti-virus software must be configured to download and install updates daily from the software vendor’s website.
- Close and Restart the Clean Access Agent: Right-click the Clean Access Agent icon in your Windows System Tray
and left-click "Exit." Then relaunch the Clean Access Agent (if it doesn't pop up automatically) from your Start > Programs menu. - Restart Your Computer: Sometimes Clean Access or your anti-virus software will not start up correctly. Restarting your computer may fix this.
- For Residence Hall Connections: Make sure your computer is plugged directly into the wall jack; personal wireless access points or routers are not supported. Contact your Front Desk or Apartment manager to initiate a request for support.
- For Wireless Connections: Call the OIT Help Desk at 426-4357 for assistance, or e-mail helpdesk@boisestate.edu.
- Still Having Problems? Check to see if your issue has been addressed in our Clean Access Frequently Asked Questions.
