Installation
The GroupWise desktop client should already be installed on all University-owned computers. If you do not have GroupWise on your computer, please contact the Help Desk or your local area or college netadmin for assistance.
For installation on personal computers, contact the OIT Help Desk for assistance.
Archive Your Email
There are two ways to move GroupWise messages offline and still have them available for your use: Archiving and Saving.
* Archiving stores the messages and enables you to access them through GroupWise
* Saving saves the messages as text files (.mlm) for use with word processing programs (i.e. Word, Notepad)
This information can also be found within GroupWise by using the Help feature. Select How do I? > Organize and Clean up My Mailbox > Clean up My Mailbox > Archive or Save My Mail.

POP/IMAP - Using Other Email Clients
If you don't wish to use the GroupWise desktop or WebAccess client to read your GroupWise email, you can configure other e-mail clients to view your mail. To do so, your client must support the IMAP or POP protocols and it must support configurable SSL (Secure Socket Layer) connections. Popular examples of such e-mail clients are Thunderbird, OS X Mail, Outlook Express, and Entourage.

Using Rules
Rules enable you to move messages to folders, generate automatic replies, forward messages, and delete messages.
There are many different ways to set up a GroupWise vacation rule (or any other type of automated "out of office" reply). Our GroupWise Vacation Rule document explains the Help Desk's recommended method of setting up a surefire vactional rule in GroupWise.
Setting Your Preferred Email Address
Email sent from the Blackboard system is routed to your preferred email address, which is set within the BroncoWeb system.
NOTE: The "Preferred" email option is currently for use only by Faculty. All official email communication to students will be sent to the student's BroncoMail address, regardless of whether that address is set as the student's preferred email address.
Students are responsible for checking BroncoMail regularly.
To confirm or update your preferred email address, follow these instructions:
- Login to BroncoWeb
- On the BroncoWeb Main Menu screen, click the Email Addresses link under the Other Contact Information heading
- Select the checkbox in the Preferred column to indicate your preferred email address. Use the Add an Email Address button to add additional email addresses to the list.
